HiT Structure

Following our official launch in November 2009, a number of Action Groups have been formed:

These Action Groups are formed and steered by their members, and it is the activities of these groups that will constitute what Hemel in Transition becomes. They are therefore both autonomous in their planning and activity, and yet central to HiT’s identity.

Each Action Group has nominated a Coordinator, who plays a crucial role in making this connection, and so undertakes to:

The Coordinating Group consists of Action Group Coordinators and other individuals prepared to play a key role (eg finance, membership, publicity, fundraising, events). Its purpose is to:

  1. Draw together the activities of the Action Groups for communicating externally and to the HiT membership, and for the development and implementation of an Energy Descent Plan
  2. Decide on allocation of existing central funding to Action Groups, submit central funding applications for HiT and support Action Groups with their own funding applications, as appropriate.
  3. Ensure that local opportunities and contacts are channelled to the relevant place within HiT and pursued.
  4. Maintain HiT’s credibility with its members, local organisations, networks and funders through appropriate communications (websites, meetings, letters, reports)

The Coordinating Group meets regularly on the second Thursday of the month, following a regular agenda structure. The agenda informs the group in advance of the content of the meeting and meetings are chaired on a rotating basis. Inputs to these meetings should be made to the HiT Secretary (currently John Quill) a week ahead of the meeting.
